Derby Road Railway Station is easily accessible from the Ribbans Park Development. Situated along Derby Road, just east of the Development, you can walk there in 13 minutes! Derby Road offers a number of services to destinations across the south, including; Felixstowe, Manningtree, Colchester, Chelmsford and Stratford. Both platforms at this station have step-free access.

Railcards

Travelling on the train regularly can be cheap! Railcards are a great way to save money (up to a third) on train travel. There are several cards available, these include:

Getting to the station

Travel by bus 

Bus service 5/5E operates from Foxhall Road every 15 minutes Monday-Saturday and 30 minutes on Sundays to Ipswich Town Centre.  From here, you can board the bus service 66 which takes you to Ipswich Rail Station in just 9 minutes.

Plus Bus Ipswich is £3.30/day, £15.00/week, £60.00/month, £170.00/3 months and £600.00/annually for an adult, with reduced rates for children.

You can purchase Plus Bus at the station or online at the time of booking your journey.  To start your journey with a bus trip to the station, you must obtain your tickets in advance of the day of travel.  There are two ways you can do this:

  • Have your tickets posted to you,
  • Pick up your tickets from the station on a previous occasion.

Nb:  An email confirmation will not be accepted

Parking charges at Ipswich Railway Station are currently:  £12.00 daily, £48.00 weekly or £2,500 for a premier season ticket. There is no car park for Derby Road Railway Station, therefore either walking or cycling is a much simpler alternative to travelling by car. Plus Bus travel offers quite a saving over parking charges.

Cycling to the station

Derby Road Railway Station is located approximately 1.1km west of the site which is a 3 minute cycle or 13 minute walk from the site. Derby Road Railway Station has 5 spaces for bicycle storage whilst Ipswich Railway Station has 228.

Ipswich Railway Station is located approximately 3.7km west of the site and accessible by bike and is an 11 minute cycle.

Both stations have cycle parking. If you are travelling on a folding bike or outside of rush hour on a standard cycle you could take your bike on the train. Check with the Greater Anglia Website for conditions of carriage.
